Improve 2G Spectral Efficiency to Enable UMTS Re-Farming
Many operators have, or are considering, spectral 're-farming'. That is, to move different technologies to different frequencies to maximise their spectrum assets. One of the more common scenarios is the re-farming of UMTS to 900MHz.

The benefits of which are many: greater spectral efficiency , better RF signal propagation and better in-building penetration. In addition, economies of scale can be made through 2G/3G sharing of sites and generic equipment, lower site count and reduced operational costs due to increased integration between the two technology layers.
However, great care needs to be taken to ensure that any spectrum removed from the 2G network has a minimal impact on the quality of service delivered. Fortunately, high gains can be made from frequency re-tune activities.
MSI have the capability and expertise to assist in a number of ways, from assistance with feasibility studies through to turn-key projects with well defined goals and deliverables.
